  KATIE BASHAW

Katie is a Junior at Blanchet.  She has been competing for us for six years.  She is currently on the 18 Black team as our Libero/defensive Specialist and setter.  In 2006, she was 3rd team All-League.  This fall, she 2nd team All-State, 2nd team All-Tournament, 1st team All-League.  She completed her 3rd year in Varsity and has lettered in volleyball, basketball, and softball.  She will be working with Sherrie and teaching our 12 Red team.

Teri, a 6-foot outside hitter from Dallas High School, played three seasons of varsity volleyball, while serving as the team's co-captain.  She was named as the team's best offensive player, Most Valuable Player, and earning all-conference 1st team honors during her 2006 senior campaign.  Teri was also named Rookie of the Year for the varsity squad following her 2004 sophomore season.

Jessica Drumm graduated from South Salem High School.  After competing for the Saxons, she attended and competed for Willamette University Bearcats.  She will be co-coaching a team with Ashleigh Streng.

MEGAN JOHNSTON

Megan is in her second year as an assistant coach on the Willamette University volleyball staff. In 2003, Megan graduated from the University of Portland where she had a short stint playing with the Pilot volleyball team as a middle blocker. Because of injuries, her collegiate athletic career was cut short. However, she continued her involvement in volleyball by coaching.   Megan has coached for multiple teams in recent years including: Gonzaga Preparatory High School in Spokane, Spokane Players VBC, Spokane Splash VBC, and Bridgetown VBC in Vancouver. Megan was a graduate assistant at Eastern Washington University, where she earned a master's degree in Athletic Administration and Pedagogy in 2005.  She currently works as the Marketing Coordinator for Bearcat Athletics.

Harmik started playing in 1974.  He has coached youth and adult teams since 1983.  In 1984, he was selected by a team from southern California to compete in the Armenian Olympics, winning the championship in the 1985 games.  For a short period, he competed in beach doubles and fours with former teammates.  He relocated to Salem 1994.  In 1996, he coached the Gervais Cougars, making playoffs the first year.  From 1997 to 2000, he head coached the North Salem Vikings.  Over the years, he has coached and assisted at various college levels.  In Oregon, he assisted Dr. Marlene Piper for two seasons at Willamette University.  After Willamette, he spent three seasons at Lewis & Clark College in Portland.  During summer months he runs number of camps and also coaches at various camps locally and out of state.  Regionally, he served as a head official for four years and is the Impact instructor.  He is the founder and organizer of the our Regional High Performance Program and is once again the committee chairman.  His new project is developing the Regional Coaching Education Program.  Nationally, he works closely and is an advocate of CAP (coaching accreditation program),  National High Performance, Grassroots, and disabled programs.  Couple of seasons, he assisted USAV's high performance program as an evaluator at the Junior and Youth National Teams tryouts.  He has been our Club Administrator since the re-organization in 1998-99.

KEN LUX

Ken has over 16 years experience playing volleyball with the Salem Volleyball Association and his church league.  He has coached various adult leagues, and has been involved in youth activities for many years.   Ken occasionally has assisted the coaches at Houck and Parish middle schools, and during the summer, he enjoys helping at the North Salem camps.  The Club has utilized Ken's talents in the 14s through the 18s levels.  Over the past several years, Ken served as a volunteer assistant at North Salem High, most recently as the varsity assistant coach.

She grew up in Meridian, Idaho and she competed for Boise River Volleyball for four seasons.  After high school, she attended and competed for Willamette University Bearcats as a defensive specialist and setter.  This is Ashleigh's first season with our Club and she will be coaching our 16 Blue team with Jessica Drumm.

EMILY STUPFEL

Certification: Impact

Emily graduated in 2007 from Sprague High School.  She competed 4 years in both volleyball and golf.  She was named Sprague’s Best Defensive Player as a senior and earned Central Valley Conference all-conference honorable mention.  She competed as a member of Sprague’s golf team at the 2007 6A state championship tournament.  Her major is Physical Education and she wants to be a P.E. teacher following graduation.  Her father Don Stupfel is our former Club President.

  JULIE ANN SUDERMAN
West Salem High school - Teacher

Julie Ann has coached players ranging from 10 years old to high school.  She competed for her high school team and after graduation, in college, she played grass doubles.  Some of her hobbies are down hill skiing, softball, and baking.  Her daughter is playing on our 12U team and she will be assisting with this team.  This is her first season with our club.

TRAVIS WARD
Western Oregon University Wolves Assistant Coach

Travis grew up in Bozeman, Montana, and then moved to Spokane, where he graduated from Mead High School. Prior to arriving at Western Oregon University, he served three years as a volleyball coach at St. George High School in Spokane, Washington, and has also worked with the Spokane Splash Volleyball Club. His St. George team placed third in the state in 2003.

Travis graduated from Prairie College in Alberta, where he played volleyball for three seasons. In 1998 and 1999, he also coached the Prairie High School squad, twice winning the province of Alberta championship.
