2006-07 TOURNAMENTS

Tournaments hosted by our club

Each year, we host several tournaments.  This is a fund raiser for our Club.  We have used number of sites, recently they have been West Salem High School and Willamette University.  The Oregon Heritage Classic is a tourney that was started several years ago and has been on hold for past two years.  The idea behind this tourney was to host a major volleyball event in our region.

Power League

Columbia Empire Volleyball Association (our Region) hosts a Power League that consists of teams from our region and small percentage from outside our region.  This league is a series of 5 tournaments that begin with a qualifying tournament in January and ending with the a regional tournament.  Go directly to their web page to receive updated information and results on Power League.  Jim Kirby who has coaches many successful teams and is currently coaching the top Rose City Team was responsible for introducing this league to our region number of years ago (a little history).

Regional Tournaments

Clubs in our region can request to host a tournament.  These tournaments are sanctioned by the Region and are located within our Region.  Click here to go directly to our region's web site.

Inter-Regional Tournaments

These are tournaments that are sanctioned by the regions designed to attract teams from various regions as well as college recruiters.  The most popular is the Las Vegas Invitational.  Then there are number of others such as the Emerald City Classic in Seattle, WA, Cal Finals in Sacramento, CA, as well as the Adidas President's Day tourney in Kent area in Washington.  Click here to go to the Inter-Regional web page.

National Qualifiers and Junior Olympic Tournament

These are tournaments that are sanctioned and overseen by our National Governing Body, USA Volleyball.  They are National Qualifiers and teams must win or finish in the top few spots in order to receive their bid to the Junior Olympic (JOs) tournament.  The JOs are held once a year in various cities in U.S.

Some of the Qualifiers are Colorado Crossroads National Qualifier in Denver, CO; Pacific Northwest Qualifier in Spokane/Cheney, WA; Far Western Qualifier in Reno, NV, and Lone Star Qualifier in Austin, TX.  Purpose for these tournaments are exposure to elite level volleyball and exposure to college recruiters.
